FEATURES & OPTIONS
Enjoy peace of mind with a range of safety systems working quietly to help keep you and your passengers protected on every journey.
Help to ensure that you and your fellow occupants are protected at all times, XF’s reinforced bodyshell incorporates a range of new-generation high-strength steels to create a vertical safety ring around the cabin.
Two front airbags, two airbags in the outer seat edges and side curtain airbags above front and rear side windows help provide maximum protection for you and your passengers in the event of a collision.
Sensors in the front seats detect the size and weight of the driver and passenger, allowing seatbelts to mitigate contact with the airbags by activating innovative “soft landing” technology. Meanwhile anti-whiplash technology is designed to instantaneously move the head restraints forward in case of an accident.
Control the locks remotely from your key fob. The doors will lock automatically when you reach a pre-set speed of your selection. In addition your XF is constantly protected by an alarm and engine immobiliser.
Maintaining optimum tyre pressure is vital to your XF’s efficiency and handling. Optional Tyre Pressure Monitoring provides an automatic alert message if pressure drops significantly.
Pedestrian Contact Sensing System™ helps protect the people outside your car as well as those inside. If the XF makes contact with a pedestrian, internal sensors instinctively raise the bonnet slightly to help reduce impact.
Your new XF features a number of safety systems designed to improve handling and stability.
• Electronic Brake Force distribution
• Traction Control (through engine and brake intervention)
• Dynamic Stability Control
• Cornering Brake Control
• Engine drag torque control
Helping you retain maximum control in case of the unexpected, XF’s anti-lock brakes vary the pressure during an emergency stop to maintain optimum steering control. You’ll also experience shorter stopping distances and enhanced steering control from the increased braking force applied by Emergency Brake Assist. Meanwhile Advanced Emergency Brake Assist primes the brakes for optimum power as soon as the radar within your optional Adaptive Cruise Control senses an imminent collision.
Radar sensors take the uncertainty out of changing lanes with a warning signal any time another car enters the driver’s blind spot. An icon in the appropriate external mirror illuminates as soon a vehicle is detected when you choose the optional Blind Spot Monitor.
